However, you can still be convicted of a DUI if your BAC is below this level, if there is sufficient evidence that your driving was impaired. • Drivers will be considered under the influence if they operate a motor vehicle while impaired by other drugs or controlled substances. • Drivers consent to chemical tests of their blood, breath, urine, or oral fluids if arrested for driving under the influence when they operate a motor vehicle. Refusing a test can result in a license suspension. • Drivers will be required to install an ignition interlock device if convicted of a DUI. UNIT 3 – Are We Ready to Drive? Safe Following Distance - Participant Guidebook Page 64 • A driver may not follow a vehicle more closely than is reasonable and prudent, having regard for the speed of the vehicles, traffic upon the highway, and condition of the highway. A driver shall follow at a distance so that at least two seconds elapse before reaching the location of the vehicle directly in front of the driver's vehicle.
