Page 3 of 4 AARP Driver Safety Smart Driver™ Course State-Specific Information D20704 – May 2024 NEVADA • When approaching a stopped emergency vehicle displaying flashing lights on the side of the road, you must slow to a speed that is reasonable and proper and less than the posted speed limit and be prepared to stop. • If possible when approaching an emergency vehicle, drive in a lane that is not adjacent to the lane in which the emergency vehicle is stopped unless the roadway, traffic, weather, or other conditions make doing so unsafe or impossible. Sharing the Road with School Buses – Participant Guidebook Page 82 • Drivers must stop when a school bus is displaying a flashing red light and is loading or unloading students. • On divided highways (barrier, median) you are not required to stop if the bus is stopped on the opposite side. • Drivers may not proceed past a stopped school bus until driver has turned off flashing red lights.
