Sharing the Road with Pedestrians – Participant Guidebook Page 85 • If a pedestrian is entering a crosswalk, the driver must yield by stopping or slowing down. • If a driver is making a right turn while a pedestrian is in the crosswalk, they must yield to the pedestrian. • When pulling out onto the road, a driver does not have to stop before crossing the sidewalk, but must yield to any pedestrians on the sidewalk. • If a pedestrian is using a white cane, this indicates that they are blind, and drivers must yield the right-of-way. Crashes (Crash Reporting) – Participant Guidebook Page 86 • Proof of insurance must be shown after any crash, no matter how small the damage may be. • Accidents must be reported to the police within 24 hours. Collisions with Deer and Other Animals – Participant Guidebook Page 87 • Colorado's Move Over Law requires drivers to adjust their speed and position when approaching any stationary vehicle with flashing hazard or emergency lights on the roadside. Drivers must shift at least one lane away from stopped vehicles (emergency responders, tow trucks, maintenance crews, or disabled cars with hazards). If changing lanes isn't safe, drivers must reduce speed. • Drivers involved in a wildlife-vehicle collision should report the accident to the Colorado State Patrol by calling *CSP (star key and 277). Police and Traffic Stops – Participant Guidebook Page 89 • Move over law is expanded to include emergency, tow, public utility, and any vehicle with hazards activated. UNIT 5 – What Does the Road Ahead Look Like? Reporting Someone with Driving Problems – Participant Guidebook Page 98 • This state does not have any additional specific information for this section.
