X Navigation Systems are available in some vehicles, or you may be able to connect your smartphone with the vehicle. This allows you to see maps and routing information for your trip on a screen in the dashboard. You may find this feature especially helpful at night or in bad weather. Always enter your destination in the system before you begin your trip and never try to do so while the vehicle is moving. If you need to make a change, pull over somewhere safe and enter the new information. X 360-Degree Cameras help a driver see better as they maneuver and park in tight spaces. Typically, these systems use four cameras—in the front, rear, and on each side of the vehicle. The system stiches (or connects) the camera feeds together to make a seamless 360-degree view. X Rear Occupant Alerts could help save the lives of those who ride in the back seat, like small children and pets, after a driver exits the vehicle. A rear occupant alert typically uses "rear door logic," meaning an alert is triggered if the rear door opened at the beginning of a trip but not at the end. Some systems may also use motion sensors to detect movement after the ignition is turned off. The alerts may be a visual alert on the dashboard, an audible horn beep, or a notification to your smart phone. X Telematic Applications or apps, use the sensors in your smartphone or a device embedded in the vehicle to monitor your driving behavior. By capturing data on driving behaviors like acceleration, braking, turning, speeding, and phone distraction, these apps provide analysis and offer tips on how to improve your driving behavior. NEVER ASSUME YOUR VEHICLE'S CRASH AVOIDANCE SYSTEMS WILL WARN YOU. ALWAYS STAY ALERT! AARP 28 ARE WE READY TO DRIVE? 3 1 2 3 4 5 6
